CUDWORTH
This group meets on the first Monday of every month in the library.
In the event of a Bank Holiday, the meeting would take place on the
second Monday.
The meeting starts at 10.00 am and generally lasts for approximately an
hour and a half, depending on the level of interest/controversy etc
raised by the book at issue.
The group also enjoys a general chat and a cuppa and biscuit!
The group can be contacted by simply turning up to a meeting, or by
telephoning the library on 01226 710535, or by e-mail to Paula Riby
(Library Manager and also Group Treasurer) at
PaulaRiby@barnsley.gov.uk
Books we have read recently include:
-
Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
-
Star of the Sea by Joseph O'Connor
-
Good German by Joseph Kanon
-
Fragrant Harbour by John Lanchester
-
Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
We have recently been awarded a grant of £10,000 by the South Yorkshire
Key Fund to develop and extend our activities. We are planning theatre
visits and author events, also the development of a "Readers Group
Corner" in the library. We also enjoy regular social outings.
Our newly formed Evening Readers' Group
meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6.30 pm in the library. We
hope to appeal to those who work or have other commitments during the
day.
